Philip G. Satre, an industry veteran with decades of management experience with major organisations like IGT, National Centre for Responsible Gambling and Harrah’s has been appointed chairman of Wynn Resorts following the departure on retirement of D. Boone Wayson and a period of turmoil in the US casino giant.
In February this year founder Steve Wynn was ousted following sexual misconduct allegations, and his former wife and major shareholder Elaine fought successfully for radical changes in the composition of the board of directors, which now comprises 10 directors, six of whom joined in 2018, and four of whom are women.
In August this year Wynn Resorts announced that its choice as chairman was Satre, at that stage a newly appointed independent director
“I am honored to be named chairman of the newly refreshed Wynn Resorts Board and look forward to continuing to support the company’s transformation for the benefit of its shareholders and all of its stakeholders,” Satre said.
