A million dollar win on a $20 online stake made one Michigan state lottery online punter a happy camper this week.
The unidentified online gambler hit a million dollar bonanza – the biggest prize since online operations launched late last year – on the appropriately titled Diamond Payout scratch card game.
Michigan’s venture into online operations is proving a popular draw card with residents, over 100,000 of whom have played on the site, according to a lottery spokesman, with more joining on a daily basis.
Lottery estimates anticipate that online sales will top $480 million over the site’s first eight years of operation, and the numbers indicate a brisk start.
In other developments in Michigan, bills HB4077 and SB75 have been introduced to the state legislature proposing an exercise to request tenders from private enterprises to run the state lottery in order to assess whether the lottery could perform better under external management.
