The latest figures from the New Jersey gambling authorities show no relief for embattled Atlantic City casinos, almost all of which showed declines in revenue during September as the gambling enclave recorded a 6.3 percent dip in revenues compared with September 2011.
Overall, slots and table games revenue at AC’s casinos slipped to $276 million despite this year having an additional weekend.
The new numbers deflated optimism on the August year-on-year stats, which had shown an improvement of some 12.6 percent on 2011 , although this was later seen as misleading, given that the comparative figure in 2011 included a three day hurricane shut down.
Digging into the detail, the September revenues saw slots win slip 3.2 percent to $198.4 million; table game win took a more serious dive to $77.6 million or over 13.5 percent.
On a 2012 year-to-date basis, the three quarters of 2012 now completed show that total revenues have declined another 4.8 percent to $2.4 billion.
