A Thai Police Task Force brought down an illegal online betting operation over the weekend, following an investigation into the alleged murder of a 19-year University student over an online football gambling debt.
The online baccarat and football betting outfit at aib333.net is reported to have been operating for around a year before the raid took place and had 500 customers on its books according to news source The Nation.
Led by deputy commander Pol Col Suthin Sabphoung, the Bangkok-based taskforce arrested a web designer, two cashiers and three women manning the telephone betting lines as well as confiscating six desktop computers, one notebook, 22 cellphones, 22 bank account books, 10 files of football-betting tickets and Bt59 000 in cash.
