Leeds, UK-based Sky Betting and Gaming’s grand design to train and employ top technology students from northern universities in Bradford, Leeds, Hull and Sheffield in its own academy (see previous reports) kicked off for real this week when 27 technology graduates reported for duty at the Sky Software Academy in Leeds.
The courses embrace four general software engineering disciplines, along with programming studies and practical education in AGILE, Lean, business skills, databases, scalability and software testing during a high-pressure 14-week course, after which graduates will be deployed to technology teams in the company’s Sheffield and Leeds offices.
The company has tried to appeal to the cream of the crop with attractive remuneration packages and conditions, initially investing an average of GBP 60,000 in each student.
