Sky Betting and Gaming’s commercial graduate recruitment scheme has proved an attractive proposition for hundreds of well-educated young people, with 1,900 applications for involvement received over the past month, the company has revealed.
More than 120 applicants were recorded for each of the 16 disciplines within the firm’s financial, administrative, research and operational teams, prompting the company to move forward with a plan to introduce a university placement scheme as well.
Only 50 applicants will be accepted from the initial applications, which have now closed, and they will be invited to attend further assessment by the company.
The man running the scheme, the Leeds-based company’s HR director Rob Painting, said the number of applicants for the commercial graduate scheme was surprising, but that Sky Betting and Gaming expected to harvest some “very talented people” from it.
“We’re still recruiting for our software academy so I’d encourage anyone who wants to work in a challenging, fast paced tech business to get in touch,” he said.
Stuart Clarke of the Leeds Digital Board said, “It’s great to see one of Leeds’s biggest employers investing in the next generation of talent. SB&G were a key sponsor of this year’s Leeds Digital Festival and we’re looking forward to working with them next year”.
