RealNetworks, which acquired Slingo in July last year for $15.6 million, has used the Casual Connect conference currently ongoing in San Francisco to debut its new Slingo Adventure game, described as an innovative spin on the classic slots and bingo combo that has proved popular with millions of players around the world.
The new mobile social game was created by Real’s GameHouse division and is soon to be released after its current invite-only beta on Facebook, with a mobile release on iOS and Android to follow this fall.
GameHouse has created a free-to-play, cross-platform adventure that combines Slingo’s popular and patented “slots + bingo” gameplay with endless levels of spins, puzzles and patterns that blend strategy, chance, and social interaction, a company spokesman said Tuesday.
In this new tale, players will team up with Slingo characters in a quest to retrieve The King’s Scepter of Chance, defeat the sinister combo of The Devil and his Devilkin forces, and save the lands of Slingo. More than 100 levels will be available at launch, with episodic levels to be added regularly thereafter.
“Slingo is clearly one of the most iconic gaming brands in history,” said Atul Bali, president of RealNetworks Games Division.
“It’s truly multi-generational and has been enjoyed by millions of players across 16 platforms for more than a decade. The casual games industry is ripe for its return to the masses; not just the tens of millions of Slingo fans who have been clamouring for a new game, but hopefully even more of the nearly 500 million people who play games every day.”
Slingo has been enjoyed by dedicated fans across a variety of platforms that include:
* iOS: Slingo Supreme for iOS is currently ranked the No. 2 paid casino app on iTunes.
* Bingo halls and casinos: Slingo-branded slot machines launched in 2001, and are featured in more than 250 casinos across the U.S.
* Lottery: More than $1 billion in Slingo-branded tickets have been sold across 23 states.
