Initial reports suggest Slovenia’s National Council Commission for Economy, Crafts, Tourism and Finance reportedly vetoed recently approved sports betting legislation Tuesday saying the pastime will adversely affect the funding of sports, charity and the disabled in the country.
The veto was led by National Council representative of social care, Boris Šuštaršič, and supported by fourteen other Commission members at an extraordinary meeting today, Slovenian Press Agency, STA reports.
The suspensive veto of the Gambling Act (ZIS-F), EPA 2540-VII was tabled late last week after the Act was adopted by the National Assembly on March 20, 2018 who voted 35-26 in favour of the liberalisation bill (see previous report).
