Italian operator SNAI, in partnership with Sportradar, is the first to market with the launch of an eSports package comprising pre-match and in-play betting initially on Dota 2 and League of Legends tournaments with plans to expand the offer in the near future.
Skyrocketing in popularity, electronic sports comprises competitive playing of video games for prizes.
“We are living in a golden age of the development and dissemination of eSports globally,” Fabio Schiavolin, chief executive officer of the SNAI Group – Cogetech said. “We see strong development in this discipline and expansion for the world of betting. We are the first in Italy to focus on this innovative product. In online our growth rate in 2015 was higher than that recorded by the market: + 50% and + 25% betting in casinos, a performance that has rewarded our efforts. We believe that a big push in eSports will yield rewards.”
SNAI eSports package is available 24/7 due to most major tournaments being held in Asia and the USA. The company will offer complete programmes, results and live streaming for all major events.
“The rise of eSports was particularly evident in Asia, where competitive electronic games are part of a deep-rooted culture that focuses on cyber-cafe and has national television coverage. Here, League of Legends sees nearly 70 million unique players each month and the prize money will be around $ 1 million. In America the turnover last year produced profits of $ 615 million, and promises a 30% market growth over the next five years” Shiavolin explained.
“We are confident that this product will bring us more success thanks to the e-Sports culture of netgaming; the scenario is populating platforms such as Twitch, where you can follow the most important world events live. This is a phenomenon that is spreading in Italy and therefore very interesting for us to offer increasingly innovative and engaging gaming experiences. “
