Following a decision by South African Member of Executive Council (MEC) of Local Government’s economic development Quedani Mahlangu to relocate the Gauteng Gambling Board (GGB), and its subsequent refusal to move, a High Court has ruled in favour of the Government’s termination of the GGB pending the decision of the Gauteng Executive Council.
Mahlangu ordered the GGB to relocate to the Johannesburg city centre, where they “would all be under one roof” and subsequently terminated their membership on their refusal of the order.
Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane’s intervention has resulted in a stay on the termination, pending the resolution of the dispute by the Gauteng Executive Council as ordered by the Court.
