A Cambodian court is currently trying seven South Korean nationals arrested by local police after a tip-off about an online gambling operation this week, reports the Phnom Penh Post.
Chea Kimsan, chief of Siem Reap immigration police, gave evidence that the men were caught red-handed during a raid on Saturday on a villa in Svay Dangkum commune’s Kros village.
“We cooperated with the relevant authorities to arrest them while they were staying in the villa, and at the same time the online gambling website was displayed on their computer screens,” Kimsan said.
He reported that the police raiding party confiscated 25 computers and other relevant evidence.
Earlier this year the Cambodian government announced plans to make a series of changes to gambling laws in hopes of regulating the underground online gambling scene, the newspaper reports.
