In a move that appears motivated by protectionism and self-interest, the Spanish land gambling trade association CEJUEGO has come out against Spain’s plans to legalise online slot action for appropriately licensed online gambling operators.
The association, which numbers major land gambling operators such as Codere and CIRSA among its members, gave notice this week that it intends to fight the internet slots legalisation move proposed by Spanish regulator DGOJ on the grounds that such a development could have a massively damaging impact on the gambling industry in general due to increased competition.
CEJUEGO chief Alejandro Landaluce claimed that the online regulations for legalised slots suggested by the regulator did not go far enough in terms of limits on advertising, promotions and acceptable levels of bets and rewards.
