According to statements issued by Sportech plc and NYX Gaming the two companies, acting together in their SNG Interactive joint venture have sealed an agreement with the New Jersey land operator Resorts Casino Hotel to provide a new online gambling platform licensed under New Jersey regulations.
Resorts Casino Hotel is perhaps best known in the i-gaming industry as the partner for a Pokerstars sally into New Jersey once the online poker provider’s two year application suspension has been lifted following the Rational-Amaya agreement.
The Sportech-NYX announcement reveals that each will invest up to $2 million in the joint venture for the project, and it is anticipated that the gaming platform will launch by January 2015.
Once live, players will be able to play a full range of online casino games provided by SNG Interactive, including roulette, blackjack and slots. SNG will also provide turnkey operational support which will include customer support and other services.
This agreement is the first initiative in Sportech’s strategic aim to add an i-gaming business division to its extensive retail, telephone and online betting activities in the US, and follows the establishment of SNG late last year with the Las Vegas-based NYX, a company spokesman said Friday.
Resorts is the trading name of DGMB Casino LLC, an organisation that is controlled by the family interests of the New York based property developer, Morris Bailey, with a minority shareholding held by Mohegan Sun, the Connecticut-based casino operator.
Mohegan Sun also owns a racecourse and casino in Pennsylvania and are an important existing customer of Sportech through both their casino based racebook and racecourse betting activities.
Ian Penrose, chief executive of Sportech, said Friday:
“We are delighted to have reached this agreement with such a well-known Atlantic City venue. The establishment of online gaming activities in New Jersey represents an important next step in the development of our US business and we are well positioned for future growth across the US as regulation permits. We have worked closely with Resorts and NYX for a number of months now, and look forward to the planned launch.”
Matt Davey, CEO of NYX Gaming Group said: “Resorts is one of the few brands with legitimate claim to New Jersey and holds an iconic position in the industry. The combination of NYX’s flexible gaming solutions and extensive library of high quality game content will be key contributors to the unique positioning and success of Resorts i-gaming venture”
NYX’s i-gaming delivery software, the Open Platform System (OPS) will deliver a full range of successful casino games including popular titles from NYX’s content division NextGen Gaming and other leading land based manufacturers.
