Sportium, the joint Spanish sports betting venture owned by Ladbrokes and Cirsa, has announced that it is to build on its South American presence in Panama by launching an online betting operation in Colombia.
Sportium CEO Alberto Eljarrat revealed to media this week that the company is almost through the stringent digital licensing process carried out by the Colombian regulator Colijuegos, which when complete will permit Sportium to launch an operational website before the end of 2017.
Eljarrat said that a successful licensing outcome from the Colombian regulator will make Sportium the first international betting operator to enter the regulated Colombian online market.
“We know the passion with which Colombians live for sport, making it an attractive proposition for our continued internationalization,” he said. “Sportium will bring to Colombia a wide range of sports, multi-channel access, experience and innovation.”
