Sportpesa expansion in Tanzania

Kenya-established sports betting operator, SportPesa, launched in Tanzania Tuesday, following receipt of regulatory approvals from the Gaming Board of Tanzania (GBT).

The Tanzanian Government plans to grow the local sports industry using revenues gleaned from the burgeoning sports betting industry.

“Thank you for seeing enormous potential in Tanzania, not only to promote sport, but also to create employment and enthusiasm in sports,” Harrison Mwakyembe, Tanzania Sports minister.
