Digital sports data provider Sportradar and the European Union’s Police Authority Europol have signed an MOU in support of a Fraud Detection System towards stamping out European match fixing.
Under the terms of the agreement, both entities will provide statistical data, trends and expertise while investigating further projects to collaborate on.
Referring to Europol’s past activities where it led Operation VETO which resulted in the identification of 425 individuals, 13 countries and 380 matches, Karsten Koerl, chief executive officer for Sportradar said:
“We are in little doubt that working together, in the spirit of the Macolin Convention, we will start making further breakthroughs and will continue closing the net on those who would undermine the credibility of the sports we all love and follow”.
