Paddy Power Betfair’s Australian bookmaking business Sportsbet has reportedly launched a trademark suit against Crownbet’s proposed rebrand to Sportingbet following its acquisition from William Hill.
The challenge will be heard before Victorian Supreme Court Judge Barry Beach in the third week of July, Australian legal publication Lawyerly reports.
According to Lawyerly’s report, a statement of claims was filed on June 21 by Sportsbet who accuse Crownbet of threatening to violate its “Sportsbet” trademark being that the Sportingbet trademark is wholly similar.
