After more than a week’s break Pennsylvanian Senators returned to the State Capitol Monday afternoon reportedly to finalise legislation needed to fund the already agreed $32 billion state budget…but by the end of business no progress appeared to have been made, and various related committee meetings were cancelled.
The expansion of gambling, including online and DFS are part of the funding proposals (see previous reports).
The publication Philly.com reports that the senators are due to return to the Capitol sometime on Tuesday, hopefully to resume negotiations, although that is not confirmed.
As the government continues to operate on an unbalanced budget, questions are now being asked on whether the state is in violation of its own constitutional mandate that any spending plan must be covered by a revenue package.
