The Svenska Spel board have appointed Patrik Hofbauer as CEO of the organisation, succeeding Lennart Käll who is leaving to pursue his own business and board assignments.
Hofbauer (49) will leave Telenor Sweden where he serves as chief executive officer to take up the position at Svenska Spel by mid December 2018.
Bringing solid senior management experience to the board, Hofbauer, in addition to his role at Telenor Sweden, previously served as chief executive officer of Telenor Broadcast, Canal Digital, NEC Scandinavia and Clear Channel.
“I am pleased to welcome Patrik Hofbauer to Svenska Spel. His experiences from both the business community and the sporting movement will be very valuable, especially given that Svenska Spel faces an exciting time with the new gaming legislation that will come into effect at the turn of the year. I am convinced that Patrik Hofbauer is the right person to lead the company in the new gaming market,” Erik Strand, chairman of Svenska Spel commented.
Following the departure of Käll on July 19, 2018, chief financial officer and vice president Marie Loob will assume the role of acting CEO until Hofbauer’s arrival.
