Barely two weeks after a persistent Distributed Denial of Service attack which caused it to cancel the inaugural event of its 2014 Swedish Masters, Swedish online poker provider Svenska Spel reported a further assault this week.
On November 13 the company posted a notice on its website advising that poker operations had of necessity been shut down due to a DDoS attack.
Company spokesman Johan Söderkvist advised:
“Svenska Spel has undergone several targeted denial of service attacks. Given the major disruptions caused by the attacks, it has been decided to temporarily shut down the poker room. Cancelled games will be refunded according to Svenska Spel’s terms and conditions, and we have reported the attacks to the police.”
The company is playing its cards close to its chest and has so far released little additional information on the nature and extent of the attacks, but they are believed to have been heavy.
