Sweden’s gambling regulator Lotteriinspektionen has, subject to legislative developments, outlined its timetable for initial moves toward a more open licensing regime for online gambling in the Nordic country.
The regulator anticipates being able to publish its online gambling licence application forms on 10 July, assuming that the government enacts its empowering Gambling Ordinance on schedule on July 5.
It is planned to publish full and final online gambling regulations and information around July 24.
Operator applications will then be accepted from August 1 this year as advised earlier (see previous report).
In the meantime the regulator has been awarded additional government budgets and resources needed to handle the anticipated increased work load.
