Playscan, a problem gambler monitoring and warning tool developed in 2007 by Swedish gambling monopoly Svenska Spel, is about to cross the Atlantic following an partnership agreement with the US National Council on Problem Gambling.
The Playscan system will provide information relevant to the North American region and both land and online gambling in terms of the agreement and players will also be able to receive assistance on national helpline contact numbers.
Under the provisions of the partnership, players will receive North America-specific responsible gambling information directly from the Playscan system.
The localised information about problematic gambling will be available to players in both the online and land-based markets. They will also have direct access to national helpline contact numbers.
A Playscan spokesman said Friday: “With gaming operators in the US moving forward with online gaming channels, it is vitally important to ensure that the player population is fully informed about the risks associated with gambling.
“Our aim is to help gaming operators detect unhealthy gambling among their players, giving them a tool to warn and protect.”
Playscan AB is a independent subsidiary of Svenska Spel, whose declared mission is to create awareness about problem gambling and to provide the gaming market with an informed choice – both for the player and the operator.
It does this by raising the players’ awareness about their gambling habits to help keep their gambling healthy. Each player is provided with a weekly risk analysis based on the actual gaming data and the player’s own perception of their gambling. Players are notified if their risk level changes and guided to helpful tools and information on how to stay in control.
On the operator front, Playscan Management Reports show statistics about the risk status and changes in behaviour among players, enabling operational management to trace and measure responsible gambling activities.
