According to his Linked In profile, the former chief operating officer of the Swedish gambling regulator, Peter Alling, signed up as the Nordic public affairs manager for Unibet at the beginning of September.
Educated in law at the Lund and Malmo universities, Alling has a Masters degree in Intellectual Property and started his career in 2000 with two years in the Administrative Court of Södermanland, Sweden, before moving on to the Gaming Board for Sweden as a law advisor in the licensing unit.
After five years he switched to a position as inquiry secretary for a Swedish government inquiry into gambling, a post he occupied for eighteen months before taking up a position as staff coordinator for the director general of the Swedish Gambling Authority, subsequently being promoted to head of operations at the Lotteriinspektionen – Sweden’s Gaming Authority – before his appointment at Unibet.
Alling’s new post requires him to “…handle internal and external points of reference to positively contribute to re-regulation processes.”
