Thailand nabs online gambling operators

Thai authorities have arrested sixteen people for the illegal operation of online gambling sites following coordinated raids across across six provinces.

Police named sbotded, sbolucky666, sbohero888 and sure999 as among those websites identified.

“Their [online gambling operations] combined cash flow is over Bt300 million [GBP 7.3 million],” Pol Lt-General Surachate Hakparn, chief of Thailand’s Action Taskforce for Information Technology Crime Suppression, said.

All sixteen suspects face gambling and money-laundering charges, while further investigations will continue to identify the “masterminds”.

Thailand’s Action Taskforce for Information Technology Crime Suppression has reportedly shuttered 748 illegal online gambling websites and frozen 149 related bank accounts, Surachate said.
