Licensed Russian online sports betting sites 888.ru and Liga Stavok (see previous reports) have a new competitor this week following the official approval of land bookmaking firm Winline for internet operations.
The company’s core business is providing betting in retail shops across the country’s major cities, but will now also offer online action on its Winlinebet.ru website.
Players deposit by cheque in a rather ponderous process, with processing through the national TSUPIS, in line with regulatory requirements. Would-be online punters have to open an account with the operator and register through the hub, producing proof of identity through a Euroset retail shop before they can get started on betting action.
