India’s Central Crime Branch (CCB) detectives bust a cricket betting racket as a consequence of a raid on an upmarket apartment which was initiated on a tip-off.
Manish Panjabi (38), Vybhav Parek (35) and Sunil Kumar (38) were arrested and Rs. 9.2 lakh in cash, a laptop and mobile phones confiscated in the raid.
According to the CCB the men are accused of collecting wagering money on behalf of the kingpin, only identified as Sukhdev from Rajasthan, who is still at large.
The accused reportedly utilised proprietary software which was developed exclusively for the inter-state cricket betting racket.
The CCB has cracked 52 cricket betting cases so far this year with the arrest of 25 bookies who were involved in the racket, Deputy commissioner of police R.Ramesh revealed.
