Irish land and online gambling group Paddy Power plc announced forthcoming senior management changes Friday, triggered by the intended retirement of Jimmy Mangan, Head of Irish Retail and Dial-a-Bet operations, scheduled for July 2013.
Mangan has been responsible for the management of Irish Retail and Dial-a-Bet since the formation of Paddy Power in 1988.
Management of retail operations in the UK and Ireland will be combined from July next year under Andy McCue, who presently heads UK Retail operations, a position he has held for the last 6 years. The company believes that the reorganisation will better enable it to leverage the scale of its retail platforms in both regions.
Charlie Kelly will be appointed Head of Irish Retail. He joined Paddy Power in 1999 as group financial accountant and company secretary, before moving into his current role of Head of Retail Operations in Ireland in 2005.
Dan Thomson has been appointed Head of UK Retail. Dan joined Paddy Power as Head of Retail Gaming in 2008 and is currently Head of UK Retail Operations.
Paddy Power CEO, Patrick Kennedy, said:
“Andy has delivered outstanding results with the team in UK Retail since 2006 and brings extensive strategic and operational expertise to this broader role, while Dan’s experience positions him very well for the continued development of the UK Retail business. Charlie will leverage his broad experience in Retail to drive the business forward. I believe these appointments will further strengthen and support the Group’s growth.”
“Jimmy Mangan has provided unique leadership to both the Irish Retail business and the broader group for 24 years. Put simply, without Jimmy, Paddy Power would not be what it is today. We thank him for his exceptional contribution and commitment.”
