Unconfirmed rumour circulating in online media this week has triggered speculation that former Scientific Games exec Gavin Isaacs may be about to join the Playtech management team, spearheading the group’s ambitions in the United States.
The reports flag the persistence with which five percent Playtech shareholder Jason Ader has urged the company to focus on growing its US business for the future, and Isaac’s recent departure from SG.
In last week’s filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Scientific Games announced that Isaacs is giving up his seat on the board, as well as his position as vice-chairman of the company.
Isaacs had been the vice-chairman for a little more than two years, when he was replaced as the company’s CEO, and his resignation was official as of December 3. The announcement noted that Isaac’s expertise would be retained as a consultant to the company for an unspecified period.
Isaacs told the Las Vegas Review Journal: “Not retiring, just time for a change. I am planning what my next steps will be. I am committed to getting back into the gaming industry, which I love – not exactly sure in what capacity yet.”
