Australian online race and sports betting operator TopBetta was found guilty of offering gambling inducements by the Liquor & Gaming NSW (New South Wales) authority this week.

The company admitted guilt on three counts of publishing gambling advertising on its website between October 2014 and May 2015 that promoted “NO LOSE SATURDAY” where it offered new bettors a refund on any losing bet up to a maximum of A$100 on specific horse racing events.

The company was fined a total of A$4,950 and ordered to pay professional costs of A$11,000.

Deputy Chief Magistrate Jane Mottley said during sentencing “there was a need to deter other operators from contemplating similar conduct.”
