Spanish horse racing track appeals to DGOJ to block illicit operators

Spanish race track Hipodromo de la Zarzuela, s.a. (HZ) has denounced the actions of and appealed to the Spanish gaming authority (DGOJ) to act on what it terms as the illegal operations of French-licenced Zeturf and Malta-licenced RaceBets in a press release posted on its website.

HZ has requested the adoption of precautionary measures by the DGOJ against the operators that include but are not restricted to the blocking of their websites saying they are not licenced in Spain but are targeting and marketing Spanish horse races to foreign and local website customers.

HZ appealed to racing fans in the same release asking them to avoid participating or contributing in any way to the claimed illegal activities of the operators saying they do nothing towards supporting the industry.

The racetrack is reportedly involved in a partnership at present with State lottery Loterias y Apuestas del Estado (SELAE) working towards an online venture of its own.
