UK bookmaker Betfred’s new advertising campaign will star Helen Chamberlain, the presenter of the popular if sometimes controversial Sky Sports British football-based comedy/talk show Soccer AM.
In addition to starring in the TV commercial, Chamberlain will be the new face of Betfred’s popular bet “Goals Galore” appearing on promotional material in all Betfred shops and on its mobile and online channels.
The campaign was developed by the BJL advertising agency and production carried out by Manchester-based firm The Gate.
Helen Chamberlain commenting on the filming of the commercial said: “I really enjoyed filming the commercial, especially as Fred was in it too. I love a flutter so I’m looking forward to having a punt on Goals Galore – it’s so easy to do too, in fact I reckon Fred is going to be skint by the end if it!”
“It was great working with Helen and I am delighted she has agreed to be the new face of Goals Galore. I can’t believe how popular the bet has become and this will just make it even bigger,” added Fred Done, Betfred’s boss.
In related news, the Racing Post reports that half the proceeds of Betfred’s GBP 265 million acquisition of the Tote would be available only “about 2016”, contrary to the terms of the sale where GBP10 million would be paid by the end of March 2012.
Along with the delay, the report said restrictions may be applied on the way the funds can be used, with the bulk of it allocated to charity rather than prize-money.
In an interview with the Racing Post, the British Horseracing Association’s chairman Paul Roy said: “There is quite a lot of housekeeping to be done before we can get down to how proceeds will not be distributed. We’ve had stakeholders involved and we’ve been working closely with the Department of Culture, Media and Sport to try to put a structure together to optimise how we can receive, and distribute the share of the proceeds.”
