More than two hundred companies have expressed an interest in the forthcoming Dutch online gambling regulation and licensing regime, reports the daily newspaper De Telegraaf.
Last December the government issued an open invitation for interested companies to register whilst politicians discussed the new dispensation, which it is anticipated will come into force later this year.
A spokesman for Kansspelautorieit, the Dutch gambling regulator, told the newspaper that the number of inquiries was ‘high’ given the estimated size of the illegal market. The Ksa estimates people in the Netherlands spend between Euro 250 million and Euro 800 million on currently illegal online gambling every year.
