UK football star lost a fortune gambling online

The UK tabloid press have been having a field day with gambling stories associated with UK football players over the past month, with the latest to surface a tale of woe involving a GBP 40,000 a week unidentified top Premier League player who has reportedly lost GBP 15 million playing online card games at unidentified websites.

Reports in the Daily Mail and The Sun claim that as a consequence he has been obliged to sell his mansion and downscale with his family to a smaller rented residence.

An informant told reporters that the mid-fielder was such a high roller that he was invited to “all the big race days, parties and football matches” by online operators.
