UK gambling bill passes House of Lords committee stage

Tuesday’s House of Lords deliberations on new UK legislation requiring online operators accessing British punters to pay UK taxes and take out secondary licensing saw the bill successfully pass through the committee stage after detailed examination.

Twenty amendments to the UK Gambling (Licensing and Advertising) Bill were put forward but not adopted, including a proposal by Viscount Falkland to extend the provisions of the horse racing levy to offshore bookies, and an attempt by Baroness Howe to place restrictions on financial transactions with unlicensed operators.
