UK punter scores massive national lottery win

Somewhere in Britain this morning, a lottery ticket buyer has awoken to the news that he or she is GBP101 million richer following Camelot’s National Lottery draw Friday.
Won on the numbers 18, 26, 34, 38 and 42 and the Lucky Star numbers 5 and 8, the jackpot is the third largest to be hit by a British player.
It is not yet known if the prize has gone to a single ticket-holder or a syndicate.
Historically, the largest ever prize was a GBP161 million jackpot won by Colin and Chris Weir, from Largs, Scotland, in July .
Prior to that, in October 2010, an anonymous ticket-holder won GBP113 million, becoming the largest lottery winner at that time.
A National Lottery spokeswoman said: “We’ve got the champagne on ice and look forward to welcoming the ticket-holder into the National Lottery millionaires’ club.”
If the win went to an individual, he or she would become GBP1 million richer than music legend David Bowie, the 703rd richest person in the country, according to The Sunday Times Rich List 2011.
