In an interview with the Australian Financial Review this week, the CEO of Unibet, Henrik Tjarnstrom gave an interesting insight into his expansion plans for Australia.
The Kindred Group subsidiary has been making an impact in the market, and plans to boost its marketing spend in a bid to increase market share, Tjarnstrom said. In doing so it will face larger rivals like William Hill, CrownBet, SportsBet, Ladbrokes and Bet365.
Tjarnstrom said his company remains committed to Australia, and plans to acquire more customers next year.
“Australia is an important and big market. It has a relatively high GDP per capita and there is a high propensity to gamble. So it is a very important market to us,” he said. “We will be putting some great products in place here and while we have not really marketed as much as we could have, we are planning to do more in the coming year.”
