Having already outlawed any possibility of legalised online gambling in his home state of Utah , state governor Gary Herbert extended his opposition this week by writing to Congressional leaders, urging them to halt federal initiatives aimed at legalising the pastime.
In a letter addressed to Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada and Republican House Speaker John Boehner of Ohio, Gov. Herbert asserts that gaming laws should be decided by individual states and not the federal government.
Utah and Hawaii are the only states that outlaw all types of gambling, including the lottery and pari-mutuel betting.
