New social sports gaming firm launches

Wedge Buster is a new social sports platform that claims to offer over 100 asynchronous sports game titles.

Following a Series A round of venture fund raising which netted US$ 2.2 million, the company counts Super Bowl MVP Drew Brees, Pro Skater Rob Dyrdek and 37 Technology Ventures among its investors.

It intends using the capital raised to accelerate game development, support marketing strategies and build out its distribution gaming network with media companies.

The company’s official platform launch on Facebook will be followed in the near future with a mobile offering which it says is in a late stage of development.

Wedge Buster’s social application has reportedly registered more than 250 000 users with limited marketing efforts and the company plans to pursue sponsorship partnerships with sports media and gaming companies to push its games over a broader network of channels.
