Media reports confirmed by online gambling group Bwin.Party Digital Entertainment that the group is at an advanced stage in partnership discussions with a Pennsylvanian land casino have triggered extensive speculation on who the US partner might be.
Legislative moves toward licensed and regulated online gambling in Pennsylvania are currently in progress (see previous reports) and such a partnership would strongly position Bwin.Party in a potentially lucrative online gambling market, industry observers have pointed out.
Two land casino groups who are not in the Pennsylvania frame for Bwin are probably Caesars, which has its own interactive division run by Mitch Garber, and Las Vegas Sands, whose owner Sheldon Adelson appears to be fanatically opposed to online gambling.
That leaves Parx Casino, which already has online and social gaming associations with GameAccount and Williams Interactive in the Scientific Games group, and Sugarhouse, about which little is known.
