Online and land gambling group will donate GBP 9,000 for every nine-dart finish in the 2016/2017 William Hill World Darts Championship.
Online and land gambling group William Hill plc has again pledged to donate GBP 9,000 for every nine-dart finish in its sponsored 2016/2017 William Hill World Darts Championship.
This is the second time the company has given support to the Parkinsons UK charity as part of the annual darts championship festival in London, which kicks off today (Thursday) and runs through January 2 2017.
Sky Sports Darts presenter Dave Clark said in a statement: “While nine-dart finishes are challenging, the odds of this happening during the William Hill World Championships are pretty good as we’ll see the best players in the world competing. I look forward to seeing a great standard of darts again this year, with hopefully a few more players throwing nine perfect darts.”
Money raised for the charity will fund research, part of the PDC’s “Targeting Parkinson’s” campaign to help find a cure for the ailment.
David Lynn, head of sponsorship at William Hill, said: “A nine-darter is one of the most spectacular sights in sport and we’re hoping to see plenty of perfect games at this year’s world championship.”
