When Italy, Portugal, France and Spain begin sharing their online poker player pools (see previous reports) French operator Winamax should be in pole position, having this week secured a fast route into the Italian market by buying bet-at-home’s Italian licence.
The agreement with bet-at-home comes as anticipation grows that additional new Italian licenses will soon be offered to operators by regulator Agenzia delle dogane e dei Monopoli. Existing licensees will have their licenses renewed as part of this project, making Winamax’s purchase all the more timely.
The consideration paid for the bet-at-home licence has not been disclosed.
