Haden Ware (41), the indicted co-founder of the now long-shuttered online sportsbook World Sports Exchange (WSEX), was handed down sentence by Manhattan court judge William Pauley for his role in the Antigua-based sports betting operation.
Ware returned to the U.S. to face the music earlier this year, pleading guilty to conspiracy after fourteen years of self-imposed exile on Antigua (see previous reports).
The sympathetic judge rejected the prosecutions ”wooden approach,” saying he didn’t know why Ware had taken so long to return to face the charges. “…I sympathize with the fact that this hung around your neck all these years,” he said.
Ware, was sentenced to six months on probation.
