US investment firm Z Capital Partners, LLC, has acquired New York-headquartered, multi-media information company Sports Information Group, LLC (SIG) from Arlington Capital Partners for an undisclosed consideration.
SIG owns Daily Racing Form (DRF), a dominant daily publication in the horse racing industry that has been in business since 1894. DRF also offers horse race wagering through its DRFBets product.
Other SIG brands include fantasy sports firm Head2Head Sports and StatFox, a sports handicapping site.
According to a Bloomberg report, Jim Zenni, Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Z Capital Group, believes the company can improve Daily Racing Form’s digital footprint and better engage consumers, while using the online betting platform to possibly expand into other sports if sportsbetting is legalised.
“We can make the digital offering better and the business will grow, and we’re in the great position where if that online market opened we could take advantage of it,” Zenni said in the Bloomberg interview. “This company has potential to be one of the first movers in online gaming for all sports.”
