ZEAL Group and UNICEF have launched the UNICEF-lotteriet in the Norwegian market, the country’s first ever digital-only charity lottery.
Zeal Group will operate the initiative under its Lottovate brand providing Norwegians the opportunity to win up to 2 million Norwegian Krone each week while supporting this important charity.
Over the next nine years, the new lottery is expected to raise millions in income for UNICEF, at no cost to the charity, a press statement reads.
UNICEF-lotteriet will operate through the first ever charity lottery licence awarded by the Norwegian Lottery Authority (Lotteritilsynet).
Thirty percent of every ticket sold will go directly to UNICEF Norway, forty percent to prize funding and thirty percent to the lottery’s operation.
Susan Standiford, chief technology officer of ZEAL, said: “At a time where charities all over the world are having to diversify their income streams, UNICEF Norway are leading the way.
“With charities increasingly facing ‘giving fatigue’, the UNICEF-lotteriet is an innovative way to generate more funds, at no cost. It’s very scalable and a great way for the charity to expand their supporter base. We’re thrilled to be partnering with UNICEF Norway.”
Our readers will recall Lottovate was recently awarded a similar license structure by The Netherlands’ authority, Kansspelautoriteit (see previous report).
